South Asian Higher Education Region

Higher Education Regionalism (HER) has been a focus of research at SCHERPA. Apart from closely studying the HER initiatives in Europe, ASEAN, African Union, Latin America and Central Asia, the Centre is envisioning a South Asian Higher Education Region and is bringing out a working paper and research papers that reflect the need, necessity and possibility of a South Asian Higher Education Region (SAHER).

Global University Network for innovation (GUNi) Project
Enhancing International Research Collaborations: An Internal Stakeholder Perception Audit

Symbiosis International (Deemed University) is a part of GUNi and is actively engaged in its programs. Under the Strategic Projects program, SCHERPA is working on a project titled Enhancing International Research Collaborations: An Internal Stakeholder Perception Audit. In this project, the idea is to collect both qualitative and quantitative data from all concerned stakeholders within the University to develop a strategic path for improving the quality and quantity of research output. The results of this research could help other universities in mapping their resources for better research outcomes.

Comprehensive India Student Migration Report

The team of researchers at SCHERPA are currently working on the "Comprehensive India Student Migration Report," aimed at analyzing the disparities between inbound and outbound student mobility to and from India. The Report will gather data on the number of international students coming to India, their preferred programs, and the number of Indian students studying abroad, along with their destinations, chosen fields of study, etc. This research will help us understand the factors influencing Indian students’ decision to pursue higher education abroad and also those of incoming students, their interests, and aspirations. Additionally, the findings will provide valuable insights to enhance the attractiveness of Indian HEIs, supporting the “Internationalization” objectives of the Indian Higher Education system, as outlined in NEP 2020.
